AE8A RL180 Automotive Relay Black 100A 4 Pin Automotive Relay - from ebay
There is now a  100 amp relay fitted to join the main van battery to the leisure batteries, this is not normally connected (energised)
To link the main to the leisure batteries the van must running and the red switch on the dash switched to on (down) - there is a built in delay circuit so the relay pulls in after 15 seconds this is to avoid high start current going through the relay.

When leisure battery is connected to charger - the relay pulls in so the starting battery is also charged

with the engine running the split system seems to allow 18-10 amps to the leisure battery - so works quite well really
