The plan was to take my 1972 Russian outfit from Stevenage
through France - Belgium - to the bottom of Germany to the famous
Elefant rally, camp for a few days and ride home
What could possibly go wrong ! 800 miles (each way) top speed
of 50 MPH oh - last weekend in January so quite cold !
I was due to go with a great friend, unfortunately he became quite
ill a couple of weeks before our off date - it would have been
dangerous for his health to have joined me

Before my departure my brother turned up with some essential rally
supplies - the instruction was that the bottle must not return to
the UK and was to be shared with fellow bikers
As I was representing my country it had to be a worthy bottle - Old Pulteney was selected
- a fine choice !
So I headed off alone - this was taken somewhere in Germany (I
think)
After two days of riding !
I had arranged to meet up with some friends - Kenny and Bob
